Jewelry Care
Care
To keep your jewelry in pristine condition Jane Fuller Designs recommends you keep your jewelry covered in jewelry pouches or boxes.
Most jewelry can be cleaned using a soft toothbrush and warm soapy water. A jewelry polishing cloth can be used to bring back the original luster to metals. Designs with a matte or satin finish should not be polished with a polishing cloth as it will ruin the matte finish.
Tarnish
Tarnishing is a natural process caused by moisture and chemicals from the air and the natural oils in your skin. Some designs may tarnish quicker than others due to the matte finish we sometimes apply to the designs - this creates a more open and porous surface which is more susceptible to contaminants.
Some of my designs have a tarnish applied (a blackened, oxidized patina), this will fade with time and can go away completely. Wearing these pieces in the shower or (with rings) whilst washing hands may accelerate this. There are ways to restore the finish or you can just let the rings change naturally with time.
For a small charge, any jewelry can be sent back to me for a cleaning, refurbishing of patina, or refinish to restore your piece to it's original design.
Leather
The leather that I use is an all natural product that will benefit from careful protection. Leather can stretch and relax over time; stretching is not a defect in this product. As a natural feature of genuine leather, you may notice gentle shading and variations in color. You may also experience a change in the shade of the leather due to oils in the skin. As the leather I use is untreated, it is best to keep it away from direct water contact. The more moisture it comes in touch with, the lesser its life.
Please contact me if you would like a replacement leather cord sent to you, or you would like me to replace the leather cord.
